Adventure Time in the Mountains

There’s no doubt that the Great Smoky Mountains is a place full of adventures. Whether you’re traveling by yourself, as a couple, or with a big family or group, your trip will always be jam-packed with exciting things to do in the Smokies.

Your experience will most likely include hiking, biking, swimming in waterfalls, or driving the most beautiful scenic routes you will ever see. Regardless of what your adventure looks like, we can promise you will never be disappointed. After all, who can be disappointed by fresh air, stunning views, and the incredible atmosphere for the Great Smoky Mountains?

So today, we’re sharing some of our favorite adventures of all time in the National Park.

Climb Clingmans Dome

Clingmans Dome is a 6,643-foot round-top peak that sits at the top of the park, well, and the whole state of Tennessee. You won’t be disappointed by your views or the experience. We recommend driving the scenic access road from Newfound Gap and then walking half a mile to the summit.

Take a Day Trip to Cades Cove

Whether you’re looking to hike, bike, walk, drive, sit out for a picnic, see some beautiful waterfalls or learn a little history, Cades Cove has it all. The most popular way to enter the Cades Cove Road is at its northeast corner where it becomes a one-way, counter-clockwise loop. The loop is one way, so you won’t miss anything. We recommend blocking off an entire day for this trip, and to pack snacks and things to eat! See here for more information on this adventure!

Zipline Across the Smokies

One of the most adventurous things you can do in this little corner of the Great Smoky Mountains is go ziplining! Mountain trips are meant to be full of outdoor excitement, and ziplining is just the thing! By ziplining through the Smokies you’ll be able to see some incredible aerial views of the national park. Check out some of our favorite ziplining adventures here.

While there are many other adventures in the Smokies, these have to be some of our favorites. Depending on the season you visit, you’ll be able to do many adventures year-round in the Smokies.
