While the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has over 800 plus trails to explore and hike, choosing a few to put on your list to explore can be a little overwhelming.
Today, we’re sharing our favorite family hikes in the Smoky Mountains. These trails are perfect for kids, aren’t too tough and also aren’t always on everyone’s lists of trails to see and hike. Check out our favorite family hikes in the Smoky Mountains below.
Abrams Fall Trail
Abrams Fall Trail begins in Cades Cove and is 2.5 miles until you reach Abrams Falls, a very popular waterfall and picture opt in the Smokies! This trail is fairly easy, and you will walk along Abrams Falls creek most of the way.
Porters Creek Trail
This is a favorite trail for all families. This trail includes gorgeous views of waterfalls, creeks, and historic structures. We really encourage you to schedule this trail into your itinerary, it’s such a beautiful sight!
Rainbow Falls Trail
Rainbow Falls trail is a 5.4-mile round trip hike that offers creekside hiking, beautiful forest, and the beautiful Rainbow Falls as a destination. Also, Rainbow falls is also the tallest waterfall in the Smokies. You won’t regret hiking this beauty!
Andrews Bald is a 3.5-mile round trip hike located at Clingman’s Dome. This trail is a very historic trail in the Smokies as the whole area was the site of a B-29 plane crash in 1946, and remains of the plane can still be seen along the trail. If you’re wanting to show your kids a little bit of history while also an outdoor adventure, Andrews Bald is a great hike.
Alum Bluff Cave Trail
This trail is a very popular trail in the Smokies and is divided into two sections. The first part leads you up to Alum Bluff Cave, an old mine. The second part which takes you up to LeConte Lodge at the top of LeConte Mountain.
