Gatlinburg, typically known for its gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is also home to many must-see attractions in the area. While we could go on forever about many Gatlinburg attractions, you may have to come back to Gatlinburg quite a few times as it may be hard to fit all of these into one vacation.
But which ones do you see first? Which ones are the best? Today we’re sharing our recommendations for must-see attractions in Gatlinburg we think you should check out right away.
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies
Located in Downtown Gatlinburg, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies was voted best aquarium in North America by USA Today 10Best.com! The aquarium has something for families and people of all ages including an underwater tunnel with 12-foot sharks, giant sea turtle, and thousands of exotic sea creatures, a three-story treehouse and play center, as well as rides of over the lagoon as well. This is one of the most popular attractions in Gatlinburg that you definitely need to visit!
The Gatlinburg Space Needle
The Gatlinburg Space Needle is located in the heart of Downtown Gatlinburg. It is a 407′ ft Space Needle that provides an excellent observation platform for viewing Gatlinburg and its surrounding mountains. We love visiting either at night or during the day! In addition to the Space Needle, you can also hang out at the arcade, laser tag, a hurricane simulator, an escape game, and the Iris Theater that features magic and illusion shows. We think this attraction has something for everyone.
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Mountain
Ober Gatlinburg is another must-see destination in Gatlinburg, as it is Tennessee’s only ski mountain. While Ober Gatlinburg is very well known during the winter months for its skiing, you can visit in other months as it offers other year-round activities. A few activities you can find at Ober Gatlinburg are:
- Indoor Ice Skating
- Ice Bumper Cars
- Wildlife Exhibits
- A Mountain Coaster
- An Alpine Slide
- Water Rides
- Rock Climbing
- Mini Golf
