Spring break in Gatlinburg happens usually in the months of March and April, and there’s so much to do! Family getaways, couple retreats, and college students all deserve to come have some fun, and Alpine Mountain Chalets knows some of the best things to do in town!

1. Explore Downtown Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is surrounded by mountains, and in the springtime the trees are beginning to bloom along with early spring flowers making the city look beautiful. There’s enough to see and do in town to keep you having fun all day!  The best way to start your day out in town is to have breakfast at one of the many pancakes houses. And then go to a popular attraction like Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. It’s great for all ages and is lots of fun, but can also get you involved and learning too! If you’re of age there are several distilleries around town that are worth checking out. You can learn how moonshine is made, try unique flavors, and have a great experience with the tasting leaders. Exploring the Parkway is one of the best things to do in Gatlinburg on spring break.

2. See What there is to do OutdoorsGatlinburg Mountain Coaster

Getting some fresh air and enjoying everything the Smoky Mountains has to offer is a great idea for spring break! There’s plenty of outdoor action just waiting from hiking up popular trails to white-water rafting. There are other thrilling adventures to have also like:

  • Ride a mountain coaster
  • Zip lining
  • Go kart racing
  • Rent a jeep

3. Visit Dollywood

Dollywood is a must do for spring break in the Smokies! It reopens in mid-march right around the start of “spring break season.” Dollywood is named after beloved, country singer Dolly Parton. Her music plays as background noise throughout the park making the atmosphere light and fun. The park is home to over 40 rides and 15 shows to see! There are gentle rides for little ones and the faint of heart, and award winning roller coasters for the adrenaline seekers. There’s also some great food inside Dollywood, we personally recommend finding some cinnamon monkey bread.

4. Explore the National Park

Gatlinburg is home to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the United States. Spring in the Smokies is beautiful because trees are starting to grow leaves and spring flowers will be in bloom. There’s something for everyone inside the park, and for all ages. Families and less experienced hikers can enjoy trails like Laurel Falls, the Gatlinburg Trail, or take a swim in the Sinks. Experienced hikers or excited outdoor adventurists can pick more challenging destinations like Rainbow Falls or Alum Cave Trail to Mt. Leconte. Best of all, it’s usually an easy drive to destinations inside the park from Gatlinburg.
